Mayza Wilson, Founder and Director of Sunflower Garden Nursery School

Mayza Wilson

My name is Mayza Wilson, Founder and Director of Sunflower Garden Nursery School. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality from Universidade Paulista (UNIP), Brazil, earned in 2003. My passion for nurturing young children led me to pursue specialized training in early childhood education, where I have continued to deepen my knowledge through boonlyth professional study and hands-on experience.

I am certified through Lifeways North America in Early Childhood Education, an organization dedicated to supporting the healthy development of young children while strengthening families through relationship-based care and developmentally appropriate practices.

In addition, I have completed numerous Early Childhood Education courses through the College of Marin and have completed Level I certification in RIE® (Resources for Infant Educarers).

A nurturing home environment

My work is deeply inspired by the principles of Waldorf Early Childhood Education and RIE®, blending warmth, consistency, and respect to create a nurturing home environment where children feel safe, valued, and free to grow at their own pace.

I believe that strong relationships, meaningful daily rhythms, and time spent in nature provide the foundation for healthy emotional, social, and cognitive development.

It is an honor to partner with families during these precious early years, creating a loving community where every child is seen, respected, and supported as they discover the world around them.

Trusted, dedicated early childhood educators.

At Sunflower Garden Nursery School, I have the privilege of working alongside Ms. Mel and Ms. Sophia, two dedicated early childhood educators who bring years of experience, compassion, and professionalism to our program.

Since the founding of Sunflower Garden Nursery School, they have been trusted and valued members of our team. Their commitment to providing nurturing, respectful, and responsive care helps create the warm, welcoming environment that is at the heart of our school.

Together, we share a common philosophy rooted in honoring each child's individuality, fostering meaningful relationships, and supporting development through gentle guidance, consistent rhythms, and thoughtful care.

Teresa, the founder's grandmother and lifelong kindergarten teacher

Granny Teresa

Sunflower Garden Nursery School is inspired by the legacy of my beloved grandmother, Teresa, whose lifelong dedication as a kindergarten teacher continues to guide my work today.

Granny Teresa had a remarkable gift for nurturing young children with love, patience, creativity, and joy. She created a classroom where every child felt welcomed, valued, and inspired to learn.

Every day, I honor my grandmother's legacy by offering children the same love, care, and joyful sense of wonder that she shared throughout her life.
